Alan’s Angler Fish collection is separate from his later Angelfish work. Made between 2019 and 2026, each Angler Fish is a unique design rather than a repeated edition.
The series is built around the strange beauty of deep-ocean creatures — forms that can feel both prehistoric and almost extraterrestrial. One example was made with a functioning illuminated lure; this is not a feature of every work.
Typical faces combine bicycle gears, cutlery, car-clutch parts and found objects. Reinforced shower hose forms the mouth, forged nails form the teeth, typewriter parts form the body and recycled copper immersion-tank material forms the fins.
