About the work

Created during the Valuable Scraps 3 international sculpture symposium in Ankara, Turkey, in 2025, the Marlin was made as part of an international gathering of ten artists from around the world.

Each artist was invited to independently transform discarded materials into a new work of art. For the Marlin, Alan wanted to capture the powerful, streamlined form and movement of the fish while allowing the original character of the salvaged components to remain visible.

Materials and construction

The sculpture was constructed entirely from reclaimed industrial materials and scrap metal.

The work reflects the central theme of the symposium: transforming industrial waste into something with life, movement and purpose.
