Time Migration

Time Migration was commissioned by Kuwait Industries Union for its fourth Expo at Al Shaheed Park in 2017. The exhibition theme was Bridges, exploring connections between old and new, industry and art, and different cultures and generations.

Alan kept the Greenfinch clearly recognisable, but used the wings to carry another layer of the brief. One side drew on older Kuwaiti architecture while the other looked towards the contemporary city, with laser-cut architectural elements worked into the steel structure.

Kew Gardens Rose Arch

The Kew Gardens Rose Arch takes a very different approach. Made as a permanent installation for the rose garden in front of the glasshouse, the structure measures six metres wide and four metres high and is crowned by a handcrafted copper rose.

It creates an architectural route through the garden while remaining a sculpture in its own right. Four accompanying obelisks were also created for Cedar Walk, each topped with a substantial copper cedar pine cone finial.
