About the work

Created as a permanent installation for the rose garden in front of the glasshouse at Kew Gardens, this monumental rose arch measures 600 cm wide and 400 cm high.

The arch was designed to complement its botanical surroundings while creating a strong sculptural focal point within the garden.

As part of the same commission, four large obelisks were also created for permanent installation along the Cedar Walk.

Materials and construction

A handcrafted copper rose, approximately 70 cm tall, crowns the structure.

Each of the four Cedar Walk obelisks is topped with a substantial copper cedar pine cone finial, echoing the botanical setting and connecting the two installations.
