Lancing Community Sensory Garden architectural metalwork by Alan Williams

About the work

Created for the Lancing Community Sensory Garden, this six metre boundary railing was designed with the help of the community to reflect the character and heritage of the surrounding landscape.

The piece was created to sit naturally within the garden, echoing the landscape and local history through its sculptural form.

Materials and construction

The hand forged flat bar construction incorporates flowing forms inspired by the rolling hills of the nearby South Downs, alongside shapes that reference the area’s industrial heritage.

Every element is hand riveted, giving the railing a strong sense of traditional blacksmithing while complementing the contemporary garden design.
