Yggdrasil is the sacred tree of Norse cosmology, surrounded by the nine worlds. This 2024 private commission was created to accompany two double-winged dragons Alan had made previously, similar in form to a double-winged dragon from 2018.
The completed tree was built in two halves to make shipping practical and now lives in Germany.
The base and branches use motorbike wheel rims, car clutches, motorbike chain and found objects. The canopy, representing the nine realms, combines car clutches, cutting discs and bicycle brake discs.
Bolt-hole location points are built into the two-part structure for wall mounting.
