Glass Panelled Banister Rail architectural metalwork by Alan Williams

About the work

Designed for a contemporary house in central London, this internal banister rail combines traditional hand forged ironwork with a clean, contemporary aesthetic.

The combination of traditional blacksmithing techniques and contemporary glass creates a distinctive architectural feature that sits naturally within a modern interior.

Materials and construction

The frame is entirely hand forged and incorporates panels of differently coloured glass, creating contrast and colour within the structure.

The substantial newel post is forged from a 40 mm solid round bar, with hand forged riveted details securing the top and bottom rails.
