Hangout Sloth was commissioned in 2023. The relaxed expression is central to the sculpture, but achieving it was anything but effortless: Alan studied photographs of sloth faces and remade the face four times before the characteristic sleepy smile worked.
The work was installed locally on a steel branch designed specifically for wall mounting.
Made from spoons, forks, car clutches, bicycle and motorbike sprockets and gears. The steel branch is supported by a wall-mounted bracket.
The sculpture is intended for indoor display and is finished with clear-coat lacquer.
