Commissioned by Ashkan Pitchforth, founder and CEO of Southcliffe Dental, this unique skull sculpture is displayed in the lobby of the company’s head office in Crawley.
To create the piece, Alan first took a cast of Ashkan’s face to create a positive form, which he then carved back into the shape of a skull.
The skull was constructed from reclaimed and repurposed materials, including medical utensils, bicycle gears, brake discs, cutlery and other found objects.
The teeth are individually cast in 22 karat gold, creating a striking contrast with the industrial character of the sculpture. The skull is mounted onto a half shaft from a car, fixed to an antique brass sundial, with the complete work presented on a stone plinth.
