Metal Octopus Wall Art Sculpture Auction

Description

This original metal octopus wall sculpture by Alan Williams is made from an intricate arrangement of reclaimed mechanical components, including bicycle gears and chains, car clutches, chainsaw chain and forged threaded steel bar.

The tentacles reach out from the rounded body, some extending across the surface while others curl tightly back on themselves. Look closely, and you can pick out the sprockets, chain links and fittings that make up each arm.

Alan has heated and shaped the salvaged steel to follow the octopus’s natural form, concealing the welds within the construction. The individual components retain their mechanical detail, with the varied surfaces and textures giving each part of the sculpture its own character.

Measuring 53 cm across and just 5 cm deep, this one-of-a-kind original is offered exclusively through this auction.
